FC YARMALIGHT: A DECADE OF ACHIEVEMENT

All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end.

Alhamdulillah today marks the 10-year anniversary of the creation of FC Yarnalight. It started with a dream, and I0 years later the dream has culminated into a gargantuan reality.

The primary aim of initiating the original Yarnalight Football Academy was to polish young football talents with the view of offering them a future as professional football players.

Alhamdulillahi, our sacrifice is being paying dividends. We have succeeded in bringing up a cream of youth from scratch to full professionals, the team began from a non league and have gone as far as the second stanza of Nigerian league(NNL). We have produced players up to international level with one of our players representing Nigeria in the victorious 2013 FIFA World Cup, a victory that earned him the National Honours of MON. We at FC Yarnalight will always be proud of that.

Sports in general is vital to the holistic development of the upcoming young ones, fostering their physical, social and emotional health. The benefits of sport reach beyond the impact on physical well-being and the value of the educational benefits of sports to the youth should not be under-estimated. We have taken this to mind, hold on to this philosophy and have undoubtedly achieved tremendously. Through FC Yarnalight many that secured means of livelihood, many have helped their parents and families through the club. Ten years has indeed been fruitful to us.

These achievements do not come on a platter of gold. Private ownership of football clubs in Nigeria require huge  financial sacrifice. Alhamdulillah we have made that sacrifice and will continue to do so. May Allah continue to give us the might to make sacrifices for the betterment of the young ones.

I would like to use this premise to call on the Nigerian Football Federation to encourage initiatives like ours by rewarding sacrifices of this nature. Corporate bodies, as part of their social responsibilities, should offer support to initiatives like ours. The players should look at our initiative as sacrifice and not in any way as a means of personal aggrandizement.

Appreciation goes to many individuals who in one way or the other made our dream a reality. Without their own sacrifices and dedication the dream would have remained a pipe dream.

Finally, I pray that those of us that passed away be given eternal rest in their graves and in the hereafter.

Dream Big. Start small. Act now.

InshaAllah we will continue to takeaway our youth from the street to a meaningful venture.

ONE TEAM,ONE DREAM
