MATCHDAY TWO ROUND UP: MFM FC shock Lobi Stars, 10-man Remo dispose Insurance, Delta derby ends in stalemate



GROUP A
The Olukoya boys got their first win of the tournament after a 2-1 win over Lobi Stars. Moses Adewale scored the opener in the 13th minute before Alex Agahowa leveled through the spot, after Uwaga hacked down Tayo Fabiyi in the box just before halftime. Austine Ogunye could have sealed the game for Lobi Stars in the 80th minute but his effort on goal went wide.
MFM FC took advantage of their attack in the 90th minute, when Mamud Akorede’s shot beat Isa Danladi in goal.

Kano Pillars beat stubborn Collins Edwin Sports Club 1-0 with a first half strike from David Ebuka. The Sai-Masugida changed the team that played in the 1-0 win against MFM FC in their opener. The team which was captained by Dennis Victor got the solitary goal in the 19th minute though a solo effort from David Ebuka. The Collins Edwin Side suffered their second straight loss in this tournament and didn’t give up until the final whistle was blown.

Kano Pillars leads with 6points, MFM FC and Lobi Stars are both on 3points. Collins Edwin with no point are technically out of the tournament.

GROUP B
Crown FC of Ogbomoso cruised to a 2-1 win over Gateway United, thanks to a first half brace from speedster, Sunday Odudu. Tubor Karamor scored Gateway United’s only goal but it wasn’t enough to salvage any points for the home team.

Shooting Stars got held by Kwara United as Ejeh Isiah scored late to secure a point for the Harmony Warriors. Olukokun Nojeem had put Shooting Stars in the driving seat after hitting home the opener in the 21st minute. A 75th minute goal from Ejeh Isiah ensured both team share spoils in the crunchy encounter.

Crown FC leads the pack with four points and got the Oyo-derby on their hands in the final Group game. Kwara United and Shooting are on two points each, while Gateway United have just one point.


GROUB C
The Delta derby was poised to be a tough encounter but both Delta Force and Warri Wolves failed to make it live to its expectations as game ended in stalemate. A big highlight of the game is the return of Abu Azeez to the Warri Wolves team.

10-man Remo Stars outclassed Bendel Insurance to go top of Group C. Remo Stars was too much for Bendel Insurance as they claim their first win of the tournament with two second half goals from Jegede Ayobami and Sunday Williams, despite having Olaniyonu Nokeeb getting sent off in the 70th minute.

Remo Stars have four points in two games, Bendel Insurance with 3points in two games, Warri Wolves have two points, While Delta Force have just 1point. Rivers United have no points in one game played.
