MALAM FAROUK YARMA's 2017 LANDMARKS

As the year 2017 rolls out into 2018, it is pertinent to have a flashback at some of the achievements recorded by the Indefatigable  Honourable Commissioner of the Gombe State Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Malam Farouk Yarma. The hard-working and action oriented Commissioner, in his usual uncompromising stand on inactivity has been working round the clock entrenching innovations and new ideas at the Ministry of Youth Empowerment. Innovations that have changed the lives of the teeming large army youth in Gombe State from restiveness and indolence to responsiveness and productivity.

All this is done with the strong and solid support he received from His Excellency Dr Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, OON (Talban Gombe), the Executive Governor coupled with the high sense of confidence repost on him by His Excellency, the Executive Governor.

The Honourable Commissioner has been able to record the following accomplishments in 2017:

1. He initiated and ensure to the recruitment and training  of 1100 Education Marshals and placed on a monthly allowance of N10,000 each.

2. He initiated a youth engagement and participation program code named g-Hope, where 5000 Youth were trained on various skills acquisition programs and paid a monthly stipend of N5,000 each.

3. In collaboration with Industrial Training Fund (ITF), the Ministry has engaged 1500 youths on various skills. These youths are currently receiving N5,000 monthly on training and will benefit from the provision of starter packs by the end of the training.

4. The Ministry has successfully brought in sanity in to the conducts of elections of various Clubs/Associations in the State. Such as Tudun Hatsi Grains Merchant, Gombe who because of leadership turtles and insensitivity of Government at that time has to relocate to nearby Bauchi State. The elections of  Kungiyar Mahauta, Achaba Riders, etc. Many others are in the pipeline.

5. Under Malam Farouk Yarma's watch, the Ministry has undergone both structural and character changes befitting it status as a Ministry with state of the art facility, including a conference centre. It has refurbished two vehicles grounded for years and has introduced an online registration of Clubs and Associations in the state. The certificate has been designed with full security features on a digital platform using an online web-based registration portal, the new system has also help in mitigating or resolving disputes of tenure elongation and election crises, in view of it inbuilt mechanism in tracking of expiration of tenure of the leadership of an Association.

6. The Ministry recently inaugurated a high-profile committee for the inaugural Gombe State Youth Merit Awards, meant to encourage youth to put in their best and be regarded accordingly.

7. In terms of Staff development, the Ministry in conjunction with Education Resource Centre, are training the staff in batches on computer appreciative to keep in touch with digitalisation of work.

8. The ministry initiated and inaugurated the leadership of Amalgamated Clubs and Associations in Gombe State for the sake of unity and development of the State.

9. The Ministry for ease of Administration has created 9 functional Units out of its 3 Directorates.

As a philanthropist, Malam Farouk Yarma has, in the course of 2017, actualised the following:

1. Secured admission for over 50 indigenes of Gombe State in various  Institutions of Higher Learning and paid for their registration and tuition.

2. Refunded the registration fees for all the 470 football clubs from across the state that registered for Talba Cup

3. Donated huge sums of money to Central Primary School Gombe for the creation of its Vocational Centre.

4. Organised a reception and gave out kits to football referees in the state that were promoted to officiate in the Nigerian Professional Football League

As a major football stakeholder in the country, Malam Farouk Yarma was one of the few that  represented Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup Draws in Russia. He was also nominated by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) as a Director of the Nigerian National League (NNL) and he was recently named as a member of the NFF Standing Committee on Marketing, TV Rights and Sponsorship.

The People's Democratic Party   (PDP) saw in him the capacity to move the party to a greater height,  appointed him  as the secretary of the party's state congress in Bauchi. He was also a member of the party's electoral committee at the National Elective Convention in Abuja.

This represent but a few of Malam Farouk Yarma's milestones in 2017. Insha Allah the coming year will be better and much greater, because the Honourable Commissioner has resolved to improve on these achievements in the coming year. Cheers! To a visiohnary.
