Super Eagles, NFF need our maximum support now - Ubah
With barely 37 days to the first match of the 2018 world cup, the expectation and anxiety is increasing by the day especially among the participating countries but back here in Nigeria, our world cup preparation is distracted by off field activities which could be detrimental to our expected success in Russia.
Nigeria's biggest fans promoter to the 2014 world cup in Brazil Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah speaking for the very first time on the lingering crisis in Nigeria football, has called on all Nigerian youths and the Nigerian media to resist the temptation of being used to ferment problems that could derail our world cup dreams and aspirations.
Chief Ubah, it will be recalled championed and sponsored over one hundred fans under the TAN initiative to the 2014 world cup in Brazil and he says the memories will linger on forever.
" I am a passionate supporter of Nigeria football. I am an apostle of one Nigeria and will support anything that will unite our Nation. Football is the single most unifying factor that has kept us going as a Nation, we can leverage on the spectacle provided by the fast approaching world cup to get Nigerians more united.
President Mohammadu Buhari, his ministers and members of the National Assembly are lovers of the beautiful game. They know the importance of sports to our National unity and will not forgive any one who stands as a clog in the wheel of our participation in Russia.
We all must rally around the Amaju Pinnick led NFF board at this crucial and difficult moment and support the board in achieving success at the World cup. We must put aside our individual differences at a time like this and unite for the sake of over twenty million Nigerian youths who make a living from football.
This generation of youths will not forgive all of us if we fail to do what is right.
Chief Ubah whose club FC ifeanyi Ubah defeated Go Round FC in one of the matches of the Nigeria professional football league played on Sunday, is confident his team can still pick a continental ticket from the league or the federation Cup.
As a private league club sponsor, he says the task of sustaining the club among other pressing responsibilities is huge but the love he has for football has remained his driving force in the face of daunting challenges.
" Remember we played in the CAF confederation cup just two seasons ago. That was after we defeated all comers in the Federation Cup and beat Enugu Rangers to the Super Cup. We are not strangers to success, we have won before and can win again he said with a smile.
Our mission for now is to organise the ONE FAMILY ONE FOOTBALLER (1F1F) project which will be launched in the next few weeks. That is a pet project aimed at taking football to over 20,000 homes in each state of the federation.
Already we have the endorsement and support of FIFA and CAF to get started and in a few weeks time we will launch the programme at an elaborate ceremony in Nnewi, Anambra state.
After the official launch, we will reel out our programmes to the Nigerian youths.
It is all inclusive. Everyone, the NFF, the state FA's, the media, the league clubs, the academies and all true stakeholders of Nigeria football will be carried along.
We need to do it right he concluded.
