NIGERIA AT 57: HAPPY INDEPENDENT DAY NIGERIA ~~~ Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah

In the last 57 years, Nigeria has recorded one positive advancement after another; all of which have greatly defined our continuous existence as a united people. ‎*Today makes it exactly 57 years since our journey to true nationalism started.  We can only be grateful to God who has sustained us till this day.
‎‎
Whereas diverse forms of leadership have come and gone, it is to our collective glory that as a people we have jointly fought and triumphed over the twin forces of retrogression and disintegration as a result of which we have created a stronger Nigeria.

While I join every man and woman of goodwill around the world to celebrate our success and progress as a Nation, today presents me with yet another opportunity to soberly reflect on our shortcomings as a people.

We are a united country endowed with enormous human and natural resources. We are however challenged by some ‎man made situations that have caused us to suffer avoidable setbacks in the last 57 years of our corporate existence.

*I draw great inspiration from the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE / Emir of Dubai, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al-Makhtoum who said that in the task of nation building "determination, strategy and vision for the future are our real resources in the quest for excellence and success."*

‎It is therefore my utmost desire that as a patriotic people,  we must imbibe the attributes of determination, strategy and vision just as we must at all times with cohesion and unity of purpose confront and deal with the challenges of nationalism.

‎Our dear Nigeria is still enormous work in progress. I recognize that whereas Rome wasn't built in a day, it was eventually built. *I therefore urge our leaders to rededicate themselves to the task of nation building along the lines of selfless service and in total conformity to the ideals of the founding fathers of our great country Nigeria.*

As we celebrate the 57th year of our independence, let us not forget to put Nigeria in our prayers. *All gratitude has to be given to God as we have remained one till today despite our diversity.*

In honour and appreciation of the struggle to gain independence by our founding fathers, we should strive to preserve Nigeria and always channel all our energy towards her survival, growth and glory. *As is always said, we have no other country to call ours.*

Though we differ in tongue, culture and religion...we share *ONE great history and today, I celebrate Nigeria and Nigerians.*

Happy 57th Independence Day, Nigeria!

LONG LIVE THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA!

GOD BLESS NIGERIA!

Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah
