2018 CHAN: House Committee Members' visit Super Eagles ahead of today's clash
Camp of the home-based Eagles came alive as the team received a delegation of Legislators from the Nigerian Chambers led by Chairman House Committee on Sports Hon. Goni Lawal along side spokes person of the Green chamber Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas representing Adamawa, Hon.Bebe uchenna Eke from IMO State, and Hon. Orker Jev. representing Benue state.
The Eagles confront Angola in the quarter finals of the ongoing African Nations Championship on Sunday at the Stade Ibn Batouta, Tangier Morocco.
Coach Salisu Yusuf’s men topped Group C with 7 points ahead of Libya who also booked their place in the last eight.
The committee from the lower chambers watched the team training session, and expressed maximum support for the team stating that the country is solidly behind them.
“We are impressed with the height the team has attained so far,” Hon. Lawal said. “Personally, I have been following the team for a while and I know what they are capable of doing. As a country we are fully behind them and we believe in their ability and we hope they go all the way to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians.”
Hon. Lawal further assured that the team will be adequately compensated should they go ahead to win the championship. He said: “Before our arrival in Morocco, we have deliberated on the welfare of the players, and the government is ready to see to their welfare.”
Spokes person of the House Committee, Hon. Abdulrazak also commended the team for doing the nation proud and mentioned that the team will get the benefits as and when due.
The last time Nigeria participated in CHAN was 2014, the team was eliminated from the group stage.
