... MINISTRY DONATED N150,000 FOR YOUNG REFEREES REGISTRATION
The Ministry of Youth Empowerment on Wednesday hosted Gombe State referees associations in the Ministry's conference room.
Just after the opening prayers, the ministry's Honorable Commissioner Malam Farouk Yarma in his address welcomes the guests as he delighted with the level of giant progress recorded by the referees in various level of football leagues in the country, while drawing their attention in respecting the rules of the game he also urged them to be good ambassadors of Gombe State for been excellent in discharging their duties for which there might be possibility for them to be promoted to the higher level accordingly.
"People are watching you during your various officiating and the best performer will be rewarded with promotion to the higher level," said Malam Farouk Yarma.
Just before the gifts presentation the National league coordinator Yarma made a special appeal to Gombe State FA to be organizing an annual general meeting that will involves various football stake holders so as to discuss issues that will bring more unity and football development in the state.
Yarma also donated the sum of N150,000 for young referees registrations unbehalf of the Ministry of Youth Empowerment to encourage youth participation in refereeing.
In his reaction the Chairman of the State referees association Malam Babawuro Mohammed (Jonnie) applauded the effort of the Honorable Commissioner for hosting the referees describing the gesture as the first of its kind that happen since the formation of the association. He continued as saying "Gombe State has the highest match appointments in the National league last season and also received best performing commendation by the NNF referees appointment committee".
The 16 referees who received the gifts includes a FIFA badge referee Mohammed Sani Babayo, five (5) Premier league level referees, and twelve (12) others officiating in the National League level.
In their separate statements Gombe State Football Association (FA) Chairman Auwal Umar Musa represented by Ahmed Sada, Chairman Nationwide league forum Malam Hashimu and Gombe State SWAN Chairman Halilu Muhammad Teli thanks Malam Farouk Yarma for the show of sportsmanship, as they recognizing the gigantic effort as first of its kind, they also advise the referees to be more determined and just during the course of their respective duties
