LEAGUE LEADERS DOLPHINS FC DOMINATE TEAM OF THE WEEK

Premier League leaders
Dolphins claimed three
spots in the Nigeria
Premier League
Matchday 16 Team of
the Week.
The NPL named Uche Oguchi
at right-back, Daddy Maurice
in central midfield and Derek
Amadi as one of the two men
in the striking role.
Newcomers Crown Football
Club also claimed two spots
in the team of the week, just
as Sunshine Stars got two
players.
Sharks are the other side
with two players in Juwon
Oshaniwa and Stanley
Okoronkwo.
Warri Wolves goalkeeper
Ambrose Vanzekin is the
only returnee to this week’s
team for the second week.
Others in the team are Fade
Adebayo of Bukola Babes
and Olumide Adigun of
Shooting Stars Sports Club
(3SC).
HOW THEY MADE THE TEAM
Ambrose Vanzekin
(Warri Wolves) Makes the
team for the second
consecutive week after his
heroic display in Bauchi
against Gombe United at the
weekend which earned his
side a point.
Uche Oguchi (Dolphins)
He edged the duo of Sunday
Abe of Sunshine Stars and
Odinga Odinga of Sharks for
the right-back position with
his steady display against
Zamfara United in Kano.
Fade Adebayo (Bukola
Babes) Has marginally
missed getting in over the
past three match-days, but
this time Adebayo broke into
the team after his defensive
display and his ability to
prove that he is a dead-ball
specialist with another free-
kick against Lobi Stars.
Olumide Adigun (3SC) A
free-scoring centre-back
when in his element. Last
weekend he popped up with
two goals to help 3SC beat
struggling Jos University
Teaching Hospital (Juth) 3 -
0.
Juwon Oshaniwa
(Sharks) Claims the left-
back role in his first team of
the week appearance. His
runs and link up with Stanley
Okoronkwo on the left flank
helped Sharks grab all three
points against Kaduna United
in Port Harcourt last
Saturday.
Sunday Abe (Sunshine
Stars) The modern day
fullback has as much
offensive responsibilities as
defensive, and against
Ocean Boys, Abe got that
balance exactly right,
impressing in the absence of
Ofem Inah, who was rested
by Gbenga Ogunbote.
Daddy Maurice
(Dolphins) The midfielder
played in a central role for
Dolphins against Zamfara
United at the weekend. He
was the man in the middle for
Dolphins that kept them
steady in Kano.
Stanley Okoronkwo
(Sharks) His second goal
was sublime against Kaduna
United after his first.
Okoronkwo was the talking
point in that game due to his
work rate and technique on
the left side of the midfield of
the Blue Angels.
Ibrahim Ajani (Sunshine
Stars) Suddenly Ajani is
becoming the main man for
Sunshine Stars as it appears
that striker Ukeyima
Akombo's goal-scoring run
has dried up. Ajani by virtue
of the penalty he converted
against Ocean Boys.
Gabriel Agu (Crown FC)
He has shown that he is an
experienced campaigner in
the NPL this season and has
turned in three goals for
Crown including last
weekend's goal at Plateau
United at the weekend that
helped Crown to their first
away win.
Derek Amadi (Dolphins)
The former apprentice of the
Pepsi Football Academy
scored his first goal of the
season for Dolphins and a
big one at that. The goal
earned Dolphins another
away win and ensured that
they remain top of the
Premier League.
Oladunni Oyekale
(Crown FC) He came on as
head coach of Crown FC on
the back of Ganiyu Salami's
sack. And the former
Nigerian international has
responded with an away for
Crown FC - their first in the
topflight.
