SWAN Selected, Owu seal shirts sponsorship

The profile of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria football team, SWAN Selected, has continued to rise as they signed a year deal with kits manufacturers Owu Sportswear.

The sports writers’ body formed the team in 2017 and SWAN Selected have played three matches. The side’s morale has now been boosted with the new deal with Owu ahead of their fourth outing slated to take place against Delta All Stars on Saturday in Asaba.

The team played their first game against Kano SWAN in December 2017, a game won by the home team before defeating Akwa Ibom SWAN 3-1 while also playing a 1-1 draw with Delta SWAN in 2018.

Speaking about the partnership, the Team Administrator, Alloy Chukwuemeka, said it showed how the team had grown over the two years.

“It has become an entity and we are getting stronger each day,” he said.

“We want to appreciate Owu Sportswear for believing in the group. As sportswriters, we are not just doing the talking, we want to put all into action.

“It’s a way for us to foster relationship among all the SWAN members in the country and Owu has shown that he has trust in anything Nigeria by partnering with us.”

In his remarks, the CEO of Owu Sportswear, Tunji Brown, said his company would continue to support any good cause in the country especially sports.

The company recently signed a mega deal with the Nigeria Handball Federation to be the official kit provider for the country’s handball team.

Brown added: “The sportswriters are the ones promoting sports in the country and for them to come up with a football team showed they also want to do the talking on the field.

“This partnership is for a year, but hopefully, we are going to extend it further and probably accommodate athletics and other sports in the country.”
